OUR STORY

Adding an extra layer of love.

When Julie chose the beautifully restored pieces for our Kindy Cottage at Sandgate, they came with an extra layer of love.

We started with the best of 21st century technology, innovation and all the comfort benefits of today’s design that are also sympathetic to this historic building and nursery Cottage.

Then, to create a cottage feel, we actively sourced the very best quality pre-loved pieces that filled key, functional roles, and helped create the mood of a welcoming home here in our childcare service. You know, the sort of pieces that have been handed down and much-loved by different generations.

Once we found the best classic pieces that had a proven record of functionality and delight then came the magic of restore, recycle, revitalise and just bringing out the best. Some favourite books are also hand-sourced from Lifeline Bookfest and we complemented new items with other friendly, familiar pieces that make you feel instantly at ease.

Our interior colour palette is inspired by the books of the Tales of Peter Rabbit. A mix of subtle, familiar elements supports our aim of creating a home-like feel with warmth, familiarity, comfort and ease so children can more easily develop trust and form strong, loving bonds. That’s why also getting (very) messy and dirty and taking lots of time to experiment and try new things is also high on the list of things we encourage and support.
